Salvation and You

The Need for Salvation

Romans 3:10
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

The Bible tells us that there is not one human in the entire world who is perfect. Think about that. Not one. We all commit sin. Sometimes we mess up by mistake. We’ve all been there–we planned for something to go one way or another, and in the end we did some things, said some things, or committed some things we aren’t too proud of.

Other times, we know what we are doing is wrong, but we do it anyway. Unfortunately, we’ve all been there too. We have told a lie, gossiped, made fun of someone, crossed lines, and done things in a selfish way.

Humanity is messy, and we commit sins. We have to understand that we are sinners, and we need to get our sinful condition taken care of because…

There is a Price for Sin

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

The sin that we commit separates us from God, and that separation is eternal if it’s not taken care of. Often, we think that maybe the good things we do will be enough to get us to Heaven, but no matter how good we are, it doesn’t take away the bad things and the sin we’ve committed.

Sin will not enter into Heaven, so our sin has to be dealt with in order to be in the presence of God and to have our relationship with Him restored. The price for our sin must be paid, and thankfully…

Jesus Paid the Price for Us

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

With there being nothing we can do to take away our own sins, Christ became the sacrifice for our sins. He was born to a virgin, lived a perfect life, and died while taking the sins of mankind on His back.

That’s the beautiful thing about salvation–we can’t do anything to earn it. It is a free gift, given by a loving and merciful God. The key to salvation is…

Putting Our Faith in Christ

Romans 10:9-10
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

“Whosoever”–that means it doesn’t matter who you are–can call out to God for forgiveness of our sins. We have to put our faith in what Christ has already done for us as the Sacrifice for our sins and call out to Him for forgiveness.

Example Prayer

Dear Jesus, I know I have broken Your laws and that I am a sinner. I believe that You are God and that You paid for my sins when You died on the Cross. I believe that You rose again and that You alone can give me eternal life. Today, I put all my trust in You and ask You to forgive me of my sins and save my soul. I desire to turn from a life of sin and to follow You as my Lord. Amen
